International Baccaluareate Diploma Programme candidate– IBDP:

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically rigorous programme with external exams designed to prepare the students aged 16-19 for university and higher education. The programme is formulated to develop our students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. The IB Diploma Programme has gained both recognition and accolades from the world’s leading universities as the diploma prepares the students for an active participation in a globally evolving society. The students benefit from a holistic developmental experience as they:

  • Acquire an in-depth subject-specific understanding as they study courses from six subject groups
  • Study at least two languages which could include their mother tongue
  • Develop analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Become globally aware citizens through subjects that not only challenge them academically but also make them environmentally conscious
  • Perform an in-depth research essay (Extended Essay) in the area of their interest involving a discipline of their choice
  • Experience personal, intellectual, and ethical growth through the objectives of Creativity, Activity, and Service
  • Demonstrate the skills needed to perform well in post- secondary education

Choosing IB: impact on university admissions

Research suggests that the DP is a strong pathway to university – the impact of studying the DP on admission to university and higher education depends on each student’s performance.
The IB has answered frequently asked questions about the DP and admission to university.

There is information relevant to students, universities and parents, covering questions like:

  • How do DP scores equate to other qualifications?
  • How is the DP different from other pre-university academic programmes?

The DP as a pathway to employment

The DP focuses on rigorous academic study, within a broad and balanced curriculum, which can prepare students well for employment.

Students in the DP also have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to community service, gaining valuable experience outside the academic world.
